Garage sale season has settled in, and I know many of us have quite a few aquarium related goods that needs to be gone. Would there be anyone here interested in doing a group garage sale of our unwanted/needed aquarium related goods?

We would need a central location of where we plan on having the garage sale, and those who are interested in joining would be responsible for communicating with each other to ensure that this runs smoothly.

Please post here if you are interested in doing this and we can all discuss where we'll be able to have the garage sale.

What a great idea! (tee hee hee)

I think the 2 biggest issues would be where and when.

If we can nail down a place and get some input on dates we will have a great start already.

I would plan on us advertising this on all available "free" methods of advertising. That will give us a greater ability to get rid of everything and possibly gain some new members along the way.

An idea I had that would raise some money for the group is to have a small percentage of the overall take be donated to the club.

We could use this get-together opportunity to get rid of some stuff, possibly find that one piece you were looking for and maybe swap plants/fish etc.

so if you are interested, please respond in this thread with your input.

I offer my garage, but we're only collecting for a couple of weeks. Not all summer. ;-)
For those who don't know, I live near the intersection of Lake Lansing Rd. & Hagadorn Rd.

I'll be painting doors in there most of the summer, but I have enough rubber backed drop cloths to cover anything.

Where ever the sale is, I have two six foot folding tables. For short term I can come up with saw horses and plywood for another table or two.

Is this going to be a one day or one weekend event?

Count me in, I have bunch of aquarium items sitting around I'd like to get rid of.
Is it possible to bring plants/live fish/shrimp etc... too?

I would be in for selling a couple filters and maybe a tank or two..

as for live I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are bringing it to trade with someone on here, having it sit in the sun all day in bags would definitely be bad, and having to set up running systems would mean a whole lot more work...

I would like to participate. Just nail down a date and I'll be able to determine if I can. I have some filters and tank decorations to get rid of.

I suggest either earlier or later.
i.e. soon, in June, or middle of September.

Thanks Don! I agree with earlier or later, but I prefer earlier. Any weekend would be great. I would prefer to get people together the night before or early in the morning to make sure all is setup.

I would think a planning meeting should be in order.

To put it back on the list, I suggest a two or three day event in the next couple of weeks. Advertising to start about next Monday.
Either the weekend of the 12th or the 19th. The weekend of the 26th will have a lot of people out of town for July 4th.
After that, and I'm no expert by any means, I think we should wait for the middle of September or next spring.

My garage is still up for use and I've got a 20 x 20 canopy for shade in front of the garage.
There is a play structure in the back with swings and side by side slides and a gas grill for what ever.

If people won't be available to be with their stuff, what are some suggestions for the available help
[probably my nine year old. He'll be happy to help if he can offer up golf balls and stuffed animals. B-)]
for the inevitable "will you take next to nothing for it?" and "whats the least you'll take if it's still here tomorrow?"

Let's make the date June 19th then. After looking back at what I have, there really not much for me to get rid of, but I will look again.

Presuming there is enough interest in the next week, the weekend of June 19th it is.

PM me for address and directions.
Drop off can be any weekday evening - after 6:30 or so if you want help unloading - or the next two weekends.
If you aren't worried about things walking off the porch, and you won't wake us in the AM hours ;-) you can drop things off anytime. If you do that, you probably ought to put your name on the pile.

I'll setup the tables I have, next weekend.
I'll have a couple of power strips for testing/demonstrating electrical items.

Left overs must be picked up before I haul them to the township transfer station on Saturday June 26th.

Maybe we'll have to arrange an intervention or pick up what ever you want to pawn off.... err... sell at the garage sale.

I'm guessing a restraining order would be over kill, but "that's what she said."

Have you heard the one that ends:
No, no, amputation not needed. Fall off all by itself in three or four days. ?
