I just received this e-mail.

Hey Johnny,

My name is Jenn. I'm an artist. And lived in Michigan much of my life.

I'm currently working on what might be my last oil on canvas. It is a 4 ft by 8 ft piece. It is an underwater piece I've titled, "Unchartered Waters."

I need to be able to refer to a few images of underwater plants that are typical of Michigan small lakes. We used to live on Indian Lake. I was back there recently but could not hold onto the image I saw of the underwater plants. I know some are long and wavy like reeds and some have thin leaves and some much larger. So I can wing it. The painting is slightly abstract. But I always feel so much better after I've drawn something that is real first.

Do you know of a good resource where I could look at a few different aquatic plants from Michigan lakes?

I sure would appreciate your help. Have a great day.

Thanks,

Jenn Weinshenker

You can check out my galleries if you want to. That's the link.

Does anybody know where would be a good resource that can guide her for this painting? All help is appreciated!

Here is a few that might:

www.deq.state.mi.us/documents/deq-lwm-inlandlakes-commonplants.pdf - drawings of native plants

www.cedarcreekinstitute.org/media/downloads/pdf/common-rooted-aquatic-plants.pdf - names of native plants she could look for.

www.mlswa.org/UnderWaterPlantGuide/default.htm - this one is more of a field guide with some pics and info.
